Because it is such a beautiful sunny Spring Sunday in Seattle, the album of the day is the Grateful Dead's Sunshine Daydream. "The Dead" had a long, successful tour of Europe in 1972. Coming home, they played at a potluck picnic party on a Sunday in Veneta, OR (well, it was a Fall day, not Spring in 1972) in what turned out to be a mythical, spiritual event.
It was the band at its peak, featuring the classic lineup of: Jerry Garcia, Donna Jean Godchaux, Keith Godchaux, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh and Bob Weir. The show was filmed and recorded, but never released until now.... on a four LP box set.
This is 'live' rock recording at its best - the vocals have an astonishing clarity, and the atmosphere is palpable.
