Jenny Abel, who was born in the German coastal town of Husum in the same house as the poet and novelist Theodor Storm, made her debut at the age of six and studied under Max Rostal and Henryk Szeryng. Grażyna Bacewicz (1909-1969) was a Polish composer and violinist. She is only the second Polish female composer to have achieved national and international recognition, the first being Maria Szymanowska in the early 19th century.
