In the past, the usual thought was how complex analog playback and system design is around it. Well, it's... Fast forward to the present... In recent years, we've reached a point where the digital audio setup is as sophisticated, if not more so, than its analog counterparts.
Remember the saying that every little detail matters when it comes to setting up the cartridge and loading it correctly, etc? With the development of digital contrivances, it seems that binary dendrites are even more sensitive down to the quark level of digital paraphernalia micro-managing.
The Silent Angel Bonn N8 Ethernet switch is one of the devices that unfolds the additional layers of refinement, allowing even more insights and microscopic delicacies.
Below you can learn a bit more about the inner workings of the Silent Angel Ethernet switch and what makes it so interesting and different.
BONN N8
Last year, the Thunder Data Co. Ltd. released a new product called “Bonn N8”, which is an 8 ports GbE Ethernet Switch, thatwas built for high quality signal network music streaming users.
By improving power signal quality and network signal quality and TCXO technology, Bonn N8 improves the network signal quality. On Bonn N8, there are totally 8 high quality gigabit Ethernet ports, which make it possible to connecting to network ports on all audio devices at once. Through the network signal quality improvements from Bonn N8, it introduce significant improvement in music streaming playback through streaming service or NAS.

Silent Angel Bonn N8 features low electrical noise and high anti-interference ability. Silent Angel claims, that is also possible to get rid of data loss and generate high quality network signals.

OUTLOOK
Vents at the left and right side to dissipate the heat. Light indicators at the front panel include a power, alarm, link status, and link speed of 8 ports. This makes it convenient to know the status of network devices.
Eight audio grade 100/1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet ports at the rear panel, suitable for the network audio devices and all of home network appliances. In our case, and from my experiences it's recommended to connect only audio devices on this device.
N8 is equipped with an exchangeable AC plug and medical grade power adaptor, which reduces the electrical noise from AC power and prevents degrading effects on the quality of network signals. High power efficiency, the power efficiency level is as high as VI and no-load power consumption with less than 0.075W. Complete protection circuit design featuring short circuit, overload, over-voltage protection.
CORE TECHNOLOGIES
Silent Angel customized TCXO (Temperature Compensation crystal Oscillator) is highly accurate, with 0.1ppm accuracy is, which is much higher than normal crystal and higher than a normal TCXO. With this TCXO, Bonn N8 was designed from the ground up to generate more accurate network signal and thus provide more stable music data transmission.
There are two electrical noise isolation circuits, with noise rejection rate 17dB, for power circuit, as well as two electrical noise isolation circuits, with noise rejection rate 20dB, for clock generation circuit.
These noise isolation circuit ensures Bonn N8 to work in stable state, resulting in a far more stable network signals.
Furthermore, to reduce noise from digital circuits, Bonn N8 has special chosen EMI absorber at the inner side of bottom case to absorb the EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) from the inner digital circuit and make the network signal and clock circuit more stable and clear.
Comparing to a general network switch, innovation, and creative technologies is the core value of Bonn N8. The resulting improvements can be seen and proven on the signal measurements.
Engineers at the Thunder Data had found how the Bonn N8 network can provide a much better signal than the one from the general network switch.
Silent Angel is confident how Bonn N8's quality of network signal is 90% better than that of a general switch when it comes to the jitter measurements.
SUM UP
In the follow up I'll use direct music references to describe the Bonn N8's sonic impact. Just to throw in a teaser. Magnificent 2L's "Hymn to Love" by Trondheim Soloists (TrondheimSolistene), Anita Brevik, Nidarosdomens jentekor, Trygve Seim, Ståle Storløkken from album Lux is among the tracks, where the Bonn N8 easily shows the advantages.
Even within the first few notes of the track Bonn N8 have effectively increased the degree of resolution and the level of detail. And I am not talking about small increments.
Ethan Wang (VP, Sales & Product Marketing) suggested trying to stack two Bonn N8 units as some of the customers were experiencing the performance shift upwards. More about this in the second part, but yes, there is a notable difference...
