MAX ROSTAL AND ESTA

Max Rostal was the founder and president of ESTA (European String Teachers Association). He left an extensive discography and about 50 published editions as well as books on violin technique and interpretation. For many years he formed a trio with the celebrated cellist Cassadó and Schroeter on piano. Among his most prominent students and currently around the world are the members of the Amadeus Quartet, Uto Ughi, Thomas Zehetmair, Ulf Hoelscher, Leon Spierer, Edith Peinemam, Igor Ozim, and Thomas Brandis many others. Max Rostal died in Bern in 1991, at the age of 86.
