Audio Planet writes: “Dune 2 is a continuation of the fantastic model Dune, so well received by our customers. The bar was set very high as we wanted to improve the first model even further in terms of quality, power, and design.
An excellent application was developed based on the incredibly complex internal construction of the loudspeaker. External styling is not accidental. It would seem that the beautiful, round lines of the enclosure with the top falling towards the back could not be more complicated. This could be said by people who do not know what is hidden inside. The interior is strictly subjected to a multi-chamber, completely asymmetrical construction of each of the chambers handling individual speakers.
The transducers are also first-class, simply best of the best. A large ribbon, an excellent papyrus midrange transducer, as well as a powerful and massive 10-inch woofer.
Without any doubt, Dune 2 is a Hi-End design regarding construction, application, and the sound of excellent transducers. With all this, however, there is a dilemma. Do they look best when you look at them from the front, side, or back?
SHORT SOUND DESCRIPTION
How do Dune 2 sound like? The powerful, warm and rounded bass base is the perfect background for the image drawn up by Satori in the middle of the range. This speaker in combination with our filtration does not produce sound, it simply paints, creating beautiful soundscapes.
Music produced by Dune 2 leads us into the wonderful world of artistic realization, waking us up from time to time with its selective top of the ribbon and murmuring of powerful bass, which with a more powerful beat can awaken us from the lethargy in which we have immersed.
Did we manage to improve the well-reviewed model Dune 1? Yes. We are sure of that. It still needs to be checked empirically.
Just as in Dune 1, the midrange speaker governs and dictates the tone for the entire column, making it extremely open, with a degree of lightness and brightness. The detailed upper range is created by a large ribbon, which copes well with the accentuation of the bass and even for a moment does not seem to overblow or sharpen. What about the bass? Powerful and decisive, rounded and muttering succulently. With its low descent, it may give you the impression of slowing down, but only when it takes you to the abyss of the bass, to the lowest floors of its basement, you can find out how wrong were you. With all this, the column speakers propose unexpectedly calm presentation combined with the high culture of sound, power, and efficiency of the set.
ENCLOSURE CHARACTERISTICS
A composite structure with an excellent fully asymmetric internal application of the transducers. The application, as well as the styling, bring bilateral sound and visual benefits to these beautiful and massive column speakers. 4 chambers, one of which is closed, not supported by any of the speakers acts as a voltage and vibration stabilizer. In the future, we can use this chamber for another transducer. A demanding customer, who may need even more power and quality in the lower range can motivate us to construct a Dune 3 model.
Bur for now, let’s get back to our Dune 2. Regarding separation and reverberation neutrality, the design is nearly perfect. A large ribbon from Aurum Cantus works together with a papyrus midrange SATORI from SB Acoustics and a 10-inch cellulose speaker from the same manufacturer. The column speakers are massive and powerful.
The beautiful, tapering figure extends muscularly in the middle and tapers towards the rear. The whole design is highlighted by a top sloping towards the rear to cover most parts of the sides with the second coat.
