I’ve been asked so many times regarding the proper room correction implementation. I’ve tried quite few solutions in the past and all of them ended up with mediocre or even worst results. It seems a great time for reviving the topic and will explore few of the software and hardware options in near future. First runner is The Dirac Live Room Correction Suite™ Max OS X and PC suite. This is very easy and straightforward programs, that deals with both frequency response and the impulse response.
I’ll report more in upcoming weeks. I have my mind set in the exploring mood and will look into possibilities and practical implementations. Stay tuned.
The room correction software supports up to 24 bit resolution at 192 kHz sample rate. The technology is unique in that it corrects not only the frequency response but also the impulse response. This is in contrast to the common minimum-phase room correction systems that do not optimize the impulse response. Correcting the impulse response yields improvements in the stereo image, clarity and transient reproduction of the music.
