Kostas Metaxas’ proud analog creation, the Metaxas & Sins Tourbillon T-RX tape machine playback version, has just landed. This rather small-sized tape machine is not an iteration or modification of earlier analog apparatus, but a 21st-century device designed from the ground up. Even the playback heads are currently manufactured along with the rest of the parts, which include the proprietary programmed computer under the solid aluminum chassis.
This certainly opens up new frontiers for me with some of the current and past music released on the tape. But most importantly, some of these tapes deliver a unique sonic potency that stands out from the crowd and transcends the usual media.
