Eric Chan’s ultimate creation, the Orchid Heart SE845, is an 845-based tube amplifier that represents over 30 years of research and development, culminating in a true end-game single-ended 845 amplifier.
Following extensive experimentation – including multiple transformer designs and prototypes assessed for both sonic performance and technical measurements (with two versions of the output transformer, seven versions of the interstage transformer, and numerous circuit variations), as well as several chassis layout concepts – the amplifier is now complete. It features zero negative feedback throughout.

Interstage transformer core: Japan Hitachi nano-crystalline double C-core
Output transformer core: Japan JFE enhanced Hi-B with nickel-impregnated double C-core, 7.5 kg per piece
