Farad Super6 Linear Power Supply

Farad writes: “Many current audio components use external power supplies. For this, mostly a Switched-Mode Power Supply (or SMPS) plug-in adapter is used. Simply functional and foremost cheap, but because of the electric noise created by the high frequency switching of these power supplies, they will seriously limit the performance of the component it is connected to. Due to the nature of their operation they will inject a lot of noise into the AC mains, which will further compromise the performance of all of your other components.

The portfolio, consisting of the entry level Super3 and signature level Super10 is now extended with the reference level Super6. A 6A fixed output (ranging from 5 to 24 VDC) linear power supply that is the pinnacle of what is possible at this price level. A few high-lights:

  • 6 Amps of continuous output current
  • Buffer capacity (depending on DC output voltage) 2.300.000 to 8.300.000 UF
  • Dual regulated with 4 regulators parallel for even lower noise and output impedance
  • 3-fold shielded mains transformer
  • Nano-crystalline pi-filter choke
  • Foil output capacitors
  • Rhodium AC inlet
  • Ground lift switch

A first for Farad is the use of a Thermal Magnetic Circuit Breaker as a fuse replacement for circuit protection. Listening test revealed this TMCB outclassed every conventional fuse Farad carries in its portfolio – even the very exotic and expensive ones. In terms of neutrality, flow, stage, detail and a spectacular absence of anything artificial this TMCB sets new standards.

The Super6 is here to thrill you!

The Super6 comes at suggested retail price of € 1689,- and is delivered with a 50cm L1 DC power cable with a GX16-4 to 5.5/2.1 or 5.5/2.5 barrel connector. Upgrades can be done through a choice of copper or silver DC power cables.
