A sneak peek at the new and upcoming Aries Cerat Hermes Phono Preamplifier from the Prestige series. Hermes is the smallest phono preamp to date from Aries Cerat, with a total gain of 80db-88db (depending on tube selection), and the gain comes only from tubes (no step-up transformer).
The phono main circuit consists of three stages with 66-74db gain, and a newly designed “booster” stage using space charge tubes, providing an additional 14db of gain. The “booster” stage utilizes a super-cpacitor bank acting as a virtual battery bank.
Hermes will offer quite a few tube rolling combinations possible with the three-stage circuit.
