Bella Sound Kalalau Preamplifier

The new Bella Sound preamplifier gets its name, Kalalau – Road to Paradise, from the amplification path that takes input signals and sets them on a path to amplification paradise.

  • Noise and linearity must be the chief concerns going into a truly high-end preamplifier design. For these concerns, low noise and high linearity are simultaneously achieved with a J-FET design.
  • The inherent neutrality of a properly executed J-FET design does not benefit from the “voice” of any signal path capacitors, hence, none are used. Instead, high quality film capacitors bypass all four power supplies.
  • The noise and linearity goals are furthered by the implementation of bulk foil naked resistors throughout the signal path.
  • Multi-layered power supply filtration is lavished on the amplifier path to keep the signal in absolute pristine condition.
  • Further care is taken by placing each of the amplifier channels and the power supply in separate faraday cages.
  • The architecture is fully balanced from head to tail, including balanced attenuators and a full complement of XLR and RCA connectors at all 14 I/O’s.
Listening tests have confirmed the achievement of the desired goals: absolute tonal neutrality, fast and accurate dynamics, and the ability to hear deeply into the recording to the retrieval of astonishingly minute details.
