I finally found the time to fully engage with the fantastic 2XHD – JAZZ AT THE PAWNSHOP Late Night Deluxe edition. The previously unreleased recordings on this album were made late in the evening, at the end of the famous Jazz at the Pawnshop’s last set. They were discovered in a vault decades later, mastered and released by 2XHD.
Carefully and splendidly mastered by 2XHD’s René Laflamme, these double 45 rpm recordings are both a sonic and musical triumph, capturing the unique, relaxed, after-hours interplay of the musicians playing for fun and for themselves.
As with previous 2XHD releases, this double album presents a masterfully balanced sonic landscape with standout sound quality, allowing the speakers to disappear, instantly engaging the listener with the iconic atmosphere and letting the music and musicianship speak for themselves. Bravo!
