Magico, the global leader in high-performance loudspeaker design and manufacture, is proud to announce the A3 2027 loudspeaker.
The A3 has been reborn.
When the original A3 arrived in 2017, it changed what a Magico loudspeaker could be. For the first time, the engineering, the materials, and the sonic performance the company was known for became obtainable by a far wider audience. More listeners have come to Magico through the A3 than through any other model in the company’s history.
Nine years later, Magico has returned to that loudspeaker and refined every element of it. The A3 2027 is a three-way, four-driver floorstanding design developed with the same measurement instruments that produced the M9. New cabinet. New drivers. New crossover. Nothing was carried forward simply because it had worked before.
Measured Against the Flagship
In developing the A3 2027, Magico deployed the state-of-the-art measurement tools first used to create the M9the most ambitious loudspeaker the company has ever built.
A Laser Vibrometer measured the vibration of the cabinet panels and calculated the sound-pressure levels they generate. With that data in hand, engineers could target bracing and damping precisely where the structure demanded it, and then verify that the intended result had genuinely been achieved rather than assumed.
A Near-Field Scanner (NFS) robot was used to optimize the A3’s acoustic output, performing multiple measurements across the entire 3D sphere surrounding the loudspeaker. The result is a complete view of on-and off-axis response, and a level of data and verification that pushes the A3 2027 closer to the optimal result than could be achieved with the original A3.
Engineered Silence
The A3 2027 incorporates constrained-layer damping (CLD) —a technique proven highly effective throughout the Series-inside an enclosure whose bracing and bolt placement were structurally fine-tuned against measured data. Where a brace lands and where a bolt clamps proved to have a major effect on the noise a cabinet radiates.
The outcome is a dramatically quieter structure. The result is less of a cabinet-borne signature when compared with its predecessor.
Form and Finish
The A3 2027 offers a dramatically refined exterior presentation. Seen in profile, the loudspeaker has no hard corners. Every vertical edge is radiused, the top plate rolls into the sides, and the enclosure construction carries no visible fastener—a single uninterrupted surface broken only by the drivers themselves. The enclosure sits on a precision-machined base mirroring the same radiused geometry, supported by footers custom-designed for the A3 2027. It is an improvement in both respects: less diffraction at the edges and a more sophisticated presence in the room.
The A3 is also no longer a two-finish loudspeaker. Its cabinet panels are bead-blasted and anodized —a treatment that gives the aluminum a fine, even, satin texture and a finish integral to the metal itself rather than applied over it. Four colors are offered: black, silver, red, and blue. The result is a loudspeaker that looks as considered as it measures.
A3 Cone Technology
The defining change from the previous A3’s drive units is the cone itself, realized through new manufacturing techniques that make this cone technology available for the first time in the A3. The midrange and woofer cones are built around aluminum-honeycomb cores offering ideal thickness, light weight, and the ability to be formed into custom shapes-sandwiched between carbon-fiber skins. The result is groundbreaking performance in every category, with distortion and IMD pushed even lower.
