Some Campoli’s recordings in duo with the pianists Daphne Ibbott and Valerie Tryon were promoted by his friend Geoffrey Terry and recorded at the Campoli’s Southgate home from 1973 to 1976, later remastered and pressed by Decca in Holland, on L’Oiseau Lyre label. The sound in such an environment is quite different from that in a concert hall.
It is intimate, and this recording provides a historica document of the great maestro in his own home. – Saulo Zucchello
