Highly acclaimed Audio Note DAC 2.1 DAC find its way into my hands. It will be interesting to compare it to some other similary designed and priced converters. As in tradition of AN this is deep “shoebox” design, that works for me both practically and aesthetically. I’ve managed to play few songs last night and sound is very captivating and involving. For sure this DAC is voiced differently from typical over pushed modern way of doing digital. It relates closer to analog playback and the way music actually sound in real time and space. It might not be the last word in thunders dynamics, but I usually prefer correct timbre and tone over the lightning fireworks, that usually impress at first strike, yet leave one unsatisfied in a long term.
