Audio Research Ghost Meter®

Audio Research writes. “The meter is a sandwich construction. We source the acrylic locally and etch the scale on each one with our laser. The motors are supplied by an American company we have worked with for at least 40 years.

Meet Barry Hans, our master meter craftsman. A few years ago we decided to build our Ghost Meters® from the ground up in our facility, and Barry creates them in a dedicated room next to our engineering department.

After it is assembled, Barry puts the meter in the red faceplate jig to make sure it is working properly, with rows of LEDs behind to catch any flaws before it is added to inventory. The front panel with the Ghost Meter® is the final major part installed on a Reference amplifier before it goes into listening. Every piece is auditioned and carefully evaluated before it gets packed. The first photo is of the prototype panel for our next amplifier, the 320M.”
