Audio Research – 33 years is a long time. We are excited that production of our new solid-state preamp is underway. The LS-3 is in many ways the modern incarnation of our LS3 preamp, introduced in 1992. Both represent the finest performance we can offer in our least expensive products.

The original LS3 was wildly successful, winning awards around the world and rated Class A. They are passed down from generation to generation, and occasionally we get one in for service, like this unit.

The new LS-3 lets you hear and appreciate what we can do with an advanced new design, and modern parts. We gave it flexibility, and modern conveniences. Its signal path utilizes a differential JFET based input stage, bipolar transistor based voltage amp, and Class-A output stages. The signal path electronics are dual mono, with separate power transformers and zero gain-cascaded voltage reference, and linear power supplies providing low noise and outstanding dynamics.

Some things have not changed in those 33 years, like our building products from the ground up, hand soldering and hand assembling, and undergoing two bench tests before seriously evaluating every unit in a reference system. All in our Minnesota facility.
