Some recordings of Campoli’s in duo with the pianists Daphne Ibbott and Valerie Tryon were promoted by his friend Geoffrey Terry and recorded in the house of Campoli’s Southgate from 1973 to 1976, later remastered and pressed by Decca in Holland, on the Oiseau Lyre label L’. The sound in such an environment is very different from that of a concert hall. It is intimate, and this recording offers a historical documentation of the great maestro in his own house.
