Consonance – Opera Audio Reference 8 is a High Definition Music Player – digital music streamer, that uses a high performance built-in CPU unit with a FPGA Dual-Clock design, which has a twin custom crystal oscillator supply ultra-lower -130dB phase noise specification.
The Reference 8 supports PCM lossless WAV/FLAC/AIFF/ALAC/AAC/MP3/WMA PCM file format the sampling up to 32bit/384kHz and lossless DFF/DSF/ISO DSD64 file format up to 1bit/2.82MHz. The DSD stream is directly transmitted from the CPU to the DAC inside the Reference 8 with no conversion to the PCM stream.
The output terminal is through the WBT and NTRIC High-END level class.
The Reference 8 has 3 Digital inputs, a 2 coaxial RCA inputs and 1 optical input with a 32bit/192kHz D/A ability.
The Reference8 supports USB external CD/DVD-ROM to play CD.
OPTIONAL ADAPTORS
The X1, X2 and X3 are the optional adaptors for the Reference8.
The X1 is a DVD-ROM and removable HDD intergrated adaptor. The power supply is linear transformer design.
The DVD-ROM USB-type B wire input to the Reference 8 USB 1.1 port acts as a CD player. The Reference 8 has the optimized algorithm to read CD’s. The laser head captures the CD data and places it into the cache. While doing this the Reference8 operates the error correction function. The laser head will read the content several times to check and correct any errors. So the CD sounds better than a traditional CD player, even the top-level Philips CD-PRO2M.
The removable HDD adaptor supports 3.5 inch SATA hard drives. The HDD is very easy to install in the X1 – Simply open the front panel and insert the HDD. The X1 supports HDD’s with the capacity of up to 4TB’s.
The X2 is a V3.0 Blue-tooth adaptor. The X2 supports APTX to transmit 16bit/44.1kHz CD quality S/PDIF streams. The power supply comes through the USB port. The output terminal is a coaxial RCA port.
The X3 is a TP-link with the pre-installed client mode and bridged function. After connection with the router by WI-FI, the cell phone and PAD can remotely control the player.
Without drives or any software the X3 can be used directly. Simply press the WPS key to connect the main router, after that, nothing more.
The X3 supports one-button (WPS) operation. When connect to your rooms WIFI router the Consonance stream player plays through the X3 repeater link to the WIFI network for DLNA function. Only during first time connection does the user need to perform this WPS operation. The X3 repeater will connect to the WIFI network automatically when turned on.
DLNA MODE
We designed a new DLNA mode to help the Reference8 to sound better and be more efficent.
Control support is through any computer, Google Android smartphones or other digital control devices.
The Reference8 control support can be performed by iOS APP 8players (for ipad/iphone), and BubbleuPnP (for Android).
