Varèse is the first dCS system to utilise ACTUS: a new interface developed by dCS engineers.

ACTUS delivers audio, control and timing signals between Varèse components. It is unique to Varèse and allows the system to operate with a single cable running from each unit to the Varèse Core. This enables the simplest use and setup of a dCS system to date whilst ensuring the highest levels of performance.

Creating a bespoke interface is no simple task – it required a huge amount of work from the entire dCS engineering team, including building our own custom test equipment – but it has enabled us to deliver significant benefits, from higher bandwidth to increased clocking performance as well as improved setup and control.
Each Varèse component is provided with a dCS ACTUS cable. Cables are comprised of six twisted pairs of copper cable, carrying asynchronous and error corrected audio signals, control signals and a master clock signal sent via our patented dCS Tomix protocol.
