Built with Engström’s uncompromising approach to analogue signal purity, M-OPTIC converts the photodiode signal current to voltage gain through a specially specified Lundahl transformer, achieving precise phase alignment between channels while naturally filtering unwanted low-frequency boost from the optical cartridge signal. The signal path continues through parallel-coupled 6922 tubes for increased transconductance and lower noise, followed by a dedicated 6922 equalisation stage for a flat frequency response. A final Lundahl transformer provides balanced output, with both RCA and XLR connections available for input and output.
To preserve separation, stability, and soundstage precision, M-OPTIC uses separate power supplies for each channel. Its no-compromise power supply architecture includes three power transformers, two chokes, and seven regulated supplies, while double layers of internal magnetic shielding protect the delicate signal from interference. The result is a purpose-built optical cartridge amplifier that brings Engström’s signature refinement, engineering precision, and pure, natural sound to a new analogue frontier.
