The ESOTERIC Grandioso C1X solo is a line-stage preamplifier that allows every sound to breathe naturally and come alive against a backdrop of near-limitless silence. It represents a refined distillation of ESOTERIC’s accumulated engineering knowledge and design philosophy.
The C1X solo features a fully dual-mono block architecture housed within a single integrated chassis, with each channel employing a quad-circuit dual-balanced configuration to achieve exceptionally low noise. Volume control is handled by the Ultra Fidelity Attenuator System, offering 1,120 steps with precise 0.1 dB resolution. Signal amplification is managed by the discrete IDM-01 amplifier modules, while ESOTERIC’s proprietary ES-LINK Analog current-transmission system is provided via three inputs and two outputs. Output stages incorporate the ESOTERIC-HCLD high-current line driver, delivering a slew rate of 2,000 V/μs for enhanced speed and control.
The preamplifier supports flexible multi–power amplifier configurations through two XLR outputs and two ES-LINK Analog outputs. Power is supplied by a robust five-transformer layout, comprising four large-capacity toroidal transformers for the audio circuits and one R-core transformer dedicated to control circuitry. Input switching is handled by FET devices to eliminate any sonic coloration associated with relays. Operational feel is refined through a high-precision ball-bearing control knob that ensures smooth, stable adjustment.
Additional functionality includes per-input gain adjustment of ±18 dB in 0.1 dB steps, left-right balance adjustment of ±6 dB in 0.1 dB steps, and an AV-through function that allows seamless integration of AV surround systems with pure two-channel playback. Users can edit source names displayed on the front panel and access dimmer, mute, and automatic display-off functions, along with a large-font volume display for improved readability. External control is supported via an RS-232C port, while trigger input and output connections enable coordinated power on/off control with connected power amplifiers.
