On October 9 and 10, vinyl specialist Ana Mighty Sound partnered with French distributor Fusion Acoustic to showcase analog solutions from the Japanese company DS Audio
Attendees had the opportunity to listen to no fewer than three systems, allowing them to compare the sound of DS Audio cartridges and phono EQs with MC solutions and RIAA phono in the same price range
The entry-level DS Audio E3 set—cartridge and phono preamp on an J. Sikora Aspire turntable equipped with an J. Sikora Aspire tonearm, compared to the SoundSmith Carmen mk2 cartridge mounted on Reed 2B tonearm with Reed Muse 3C turntable and Phasemation EA-220 phono stage.
In the mid-range category, the DS Audio DSW3 cartridge on an AMG Giro Mk2 turntable with AMG 9WT tonearm, paired with the new DS Audio TB-50 tube phono preamp, was compared to the Mutech Hayate cartridge.
Finally, in the high-end category, the DS Audio Master 3 cartridge on the Csport TAT2M2 turntable with Glanz MH-1200S tonearm was compared to the Koetsu Wajima cartridge on the AMG Viella Forte and AMG 12WT tonearm
These comparative listening sessions highlighted the sound reproduction qualities and strengths of the two types of analog systems.
