Interesting observation by Gary regarding the Viola Bravo mono blocks and and Gryphon AudioMephisto stereo amplifier: “During a visit to a customer in Penang, Malaysia, I had the extraordinarily rare opportunity to compare and contrast two top-class amplifiers: a pair of Viola Bravo’s in monoblock/parallel configuration vs a single Gryphon Mephisto stereo amplifier.”
I was familiar with the rest of the system – my own Genesis 2.2 Junior loudspeakers and the CH Precision C1 DAC with X1 outboard power supply. Wow! How do you choose between these two?
The Viola was organic, sweet and powerful; the Gryphon was engaging, rich and detailed. Both were supremely musical and you could listen to this system for hours and hours on end. We had to eventually drag ourselves away for dinner. Wonderful fellowship.
