GERMAN PHYSIKS EMPEROR EXTREME – KEEPING IT COOL

The slots around the top panel of the German Physiks Emperor Extreme integrated amplifier conceal extra-large heatsinks that keep the unit running cool, even when it is being worked hard. Keeping the Emperor’s electronics cool ensures higher reliability and a longer service life.

The Emperor can deliver 620W RMS into 4 ohms and 1,000W peak into 4 ohms, so without suitably large heatsinks, it would run significantly hotter when driving a challenging loudspeaker. Needless to say, we do not class German Physiks loudspeakers as challenging.

An unseen extra tweak that is hidden under the top panel, is a plate with carefully chosen openings. This controls the airflow through the unit, ensuring that the operating temperature of all sections of the amplifier are closely matched. This ensures the optimum operation of the unit’s balanced circuitry, providing a very low noise figure.
