German Physiks flagship, the German Physiks Gaudi Mk III omnidirectional loudspeaker is designed to create a listening experience that is as close as possible to a live performance. It provides live-music like dynamics due to its exceptional transient response and the ability to produce sound levels up to 118dB; outstanding resolution and tonal accuracy due to the use of our DDD driver and a well-controlled and well-extended bass that you can feel as well as hear, when the music demands it.
Its four omnidirectional DDD drivers mimic the sound field that the listener experiences in the concert hall. They create a well-defined, 3-dimensional stereo image, which, just like in the concert hall, the listener can enjoy almost where ever they sit in their room. Unlike with a conventional loudspeaker, the listener is not tied to a sweet-spot.
The DDD driver’s ultra-wide frequency range, 200Hz to 24kHz, eliminates the crossover point in the midrange that all conventional loudspeakers must have and with it any problems this can cause are also eliminated. The bass system comprises a woofer cabinet with a single 15-inch driver and two sub-woofer cabinets, each housing four 10-inch drivers. This takes the frequency response down to 18Hz. It can move sufficient air to provide the visceral bass required by loud, large-scale orchestral works, whilst avoiding overpowering smaller scale performances.
Each loudspeaker is driven by three external power amplifiers. Naturally we recommend our own Emperor Extreme amplifiers, but the user is free to use the amplifiers of their choice, provided that they all have the same gain and meet the power requirements.
To facilitate active operation, the Gaudi is supplied with our DSP-X digital crossover.
The Gaudi is designed to be able to drive rooms up to 300 sq m, hence its large size, but it can be used in rooms down to 50 sq m.
The Gaudi uses the same omnidirectional DDD driver as all of our other loudspeakers. As this covers almost the entire audio range, our smaller loudspeakers can provide the listener with a very good taste of the performance that the Gaudi can offer.
