German Physiks writes: “For the last three years we have been working on the Mk III version of the Gaudi and hope to finally be able to release this by the end of this year. The German Physiks Gaudi was launched in 1996 as our flagship model.

The objective was to recreate as closely as possible the feeling of a live musical performance. This was achieved by:
- A wide frequency response: 15Hz to 24kHz.
- A high maximum output level for realistic dynamics: 120dB.
- Exceptional coherence. Its four DDD drivers cover the range from 180Hz to 24kHz. This eliminates the crossover point in the mid-range that most conventional loudspeakers have. Our hearing is most sensitive in the mid-range, so it is desirable to keep this region pristine.
- Excellent phase linearity over a wide frequency range. This is achieved by the DDD driver’s very wide frequency range, together with the fact that its unique design allows the DDD driver to function as a pulsating cylinder – even though the diaphragm is cone shaped. The net result is that the tonal accuracy and transient response are both outstanding.
- Active operation. Each of the three sections of the loudspeaker are driven directly by a dedicated power amplifier. This gives optimum control of the drivers.
