The real mistake is not RIAA. It is having turned it into a universal standard.
The history of vinyl is made up of different labels, eras, countries and cutting chains. Decca, Columbia, RCA, EMI and many other companies developed systems and equalisation curves linked to their own equipment, techniques and ideas of sound.
Applying the same curve to every record therefore means forcing different recordings into a single interpretation, altering their balance and losing their identity.
Gold Note PH-1000 was created to overcome this paradigm. Its equalisation curves are not tone controls, but tools designed to recreate the correct playback conditions and bring the system closer to the way in which the record was conceived, cut and pressed.
RIAA remains one possible reference, not an absolute truth.
