HARMAN Revel B1 Subwoofer NEW

HARMAN’s Revel today announced the introduction of its versatile, high-value B1 powered subwoofer, featuring a 12-inch MCC (micro ceramic composite) woofer, built-in 250-watt RMS amplifier and parametric EQ to deliver accurate and authoritative bass from a surprisingly compact enclosure.
Measuring 17-3/4 inches high by 15-3/4 inches wide by 14 inches deep (including feet and grille), the Revel B1 is ideal for use with Revel Concerta Series loudspeakers and with other speaker systems in “2.1 stereo” and multichannel home theater configurations. The B1 employs a 12-inch woofer with a proprietary MCC woofer diaphragm, created by anodizing both sides of an aluminum core. This fabrication technique adds strength and stiffness – but very little weight – to a material already well suited for use in high-performance drivers.
The spider incorporates a high-strength Nomex®/cotton blend with optimized geometry for improved linearity. The woofer’s large ceramic-magnet motor assembly includes a 2-inch-diameter copper voice coil wound on a Kapton® bobbin for impressive power handling and freedom from dynamic compression. A vented center pole facilitates heat dissipation, allowing more efficient cooling for high-power handling and low dynamic compression.
The Revel B1’s 3-band parametric equalizer enables the subwoofer to be precisely dialed in for optimum performance in any system and room. Every room has frequency response dips and peaks, especially below 300 Hz, that can detract from a subwoofer’s (or loudspeaker’s) performance. The location in which the subwoofer is placed in the room will also have a major impact. The B1’s parametric EQ enables adjustment of frequency, level and bandwidth to compensate for room-induced response anomalies. In addition, the B1 provides volume, low-pass crossover and phase adjustments and includes line-level RCA inputs.
The B1 enclosure is constructed of rigid MDF with extensive internal bracing to minimize cabinet-induced colorations. Its downward-firing port facilitates placement against a wall or in a variety of other locations and its rubber-padded feet ensure stability on any floor surface. The B1 is available in a black finish to complement any system and room décor.
The Revel B1 powered subwoofer will be available in January 2015 at a suggested retail price of $999.
