Hegel Music System has received a new amplifier for their museum, or more precisely one of the oldest proper Hegel amplifiers in their possession. “This is a model Hegel model 102 of 1992 vintage, it has been used by a customer until recently and now generously donated to our collection. Hegel 102 has a rated output of two times 80 watts in 8 ohms, in 4 ohms it measures 2 x 112 watts. This is a rather straightforward construction with bipolar transistor output devices, this was also prior to Sound Engine technology. Several versions with different output ratings utilising the same cabinet were made back then. We might audition this amp one day, however, it needs a bit of soldering and TLC as one channel is dead.”
