In a new series of posts we’ll explore the individual components that make up dCS Varèse – from the Core to the User Interface, Master Clock and Mono DAC’s – explaining their role, function and features.

First up is the Core: a processing powerhouse responsible for most of the DSP and network streaming operations within the Varèse Music System.

The Core supports various hi-res streaming services and music formats up to DSD 512. It utilises our novel ACTUS protocol to provide the simplest setup and use of a dCS system to date, whilst also enabling the highest levels of performance.
With the Core handling almost all DSP – such as filtering and oversampling – the Mono DAC’s within Varèse are able to focus on a singular purpose: converting digital signals to analogue. This has enabled us to further enhance DAC performance and provide an even more revealing and immersive musical experience.

The Core is also designed with maximum flexibility in mind. Its architecture provides scope to add further expansion modules – something we’ll be covering in more detail in future posts.
