The 3 arms of the JT3 are made from 20mm layers of boiled solid oak, keeping the fiber as much as possible horizontal. These parts also have horizontal air ducts, so the humidity in the whole mass of the part will be the same, in the years to come. The main chassis is a sandwich of black-transparent-black acryl, kept together with a special mixture, keeping the structure rigid and resonance-free.
The platter is made from 21 recycled vinyl discs. As we all know, best quality and precision can only be achieved by using parts made with best quality materials and precise machining. There is no reason to speak about quality controlled platter, because by hand manufacturing this platter, control is made while manufacturing the part. So, before dressing the platter in the final HS matte-black layer, for obtaining a no-compromise part, it will be dressed in layers and corrected 21 times. The final layer on the platter was applied by a well-known specialist in spray painting AND precision machining. The process is made in multi-angle spraying, obtaining a level layer resulting in a wobble-free rotating precision part. The coating was made in a temperature controlled sterile environment. The platter itself rests on a adjustable MAGLEV system (magnets in opposition).
The JT3 rests through its 3 legs on hydraulic MAGLEV suspensions ended with solid chrome spikes. Each leg contains an oil-filled damper, with 2x neodymium magnets in magnetic opposition inside that act as a spring. Using regular coil springs for suspension, especially when supporting a heavy unit, will eventually result in a loss of force of about 20% in one year by means of metal molecular fatigue, and of course the loss will not be equal on the three supports. By using the MAGLEV system in this project, the loss is about 10% of the force in about 15 years, and this loss does not mean having the suspension 10% off the original position. Only slight height adjustments (supports are adjustable) from time to time might be necessary for having the unit perfectly horizontal.
