Kroma Atelier MARIBEL Speakers

The culmination of a half-century love affair with speaker design, Kroma Atelier Maribel is a father & son master- piece and the ultimate expression of Kroma Atelier’s craft.

Javier Millán has been building speakers and audio gear for fifty years, since age 14. Less a lab engineer and more of a craftsman with music coursing through his veins, he chases a natural, human sound and tinkers until he can feel it. His son has watched and absorbed this obsession since he was a toddler, and today Javier Millán Sr. and Jr. work together as the dream team that defines Kroma Atelier.

Maribel is what happens when you let these two not just imagine the ultimate speaker, but build it together without constraints. It is a towering work of dreams that embodies the totality of Kroma’s love affair with music, and it launches to the world in Warsaw this week.

Design features
KRION® “SILENT CAVITY” CABINET
Maribel’s enclosure is made entirely from Krion®, a dense, non-porous material that is extremely rigid and non-magnetic. The Silent Cavity design eliminates structural resonances. The result is a clean, uncolored presentation that lets the recording breathe.

SILENCER-INSPIRED ACOUSTICS
Inside the cabinet, the airflow is shaped with expansion chambers, ducts and resonators—similar to acoustic silencers. High-performance acoustic Phase-Lock foam panels are density-matched and strategically positioned to control internal reflections. These tame unwanted resonances, resulting in tight bass and a smooth, linear response without electronic correction.

ADVANCED DRIVERS
The speaker uses a high-end complement: dual AMT tweeters, a 3″ dome mid, two 8″ mid-woofers and two 15″ woofers. These add effortless extension and dynamics. The Scan-Speak Ellipticor units are custom-modified with distinctive elliptical motor/coil geometry to deliver very low distortion and fast transients.

TRI-METAL FOR CLEAN SIGNAL PATH
Pure copper provides foundational conductivity, silver enhances transient responsiveness and tonal clarity, while gold delivers crystalline structure and long-term stability. Signal paths are physically separated, and the crossover uses carefully selected Duelund and Mundorf components. Non-magnetic fasteners avoid small magnetic effects that can smear micro-detail.

CRAFTSMANSHIP & ISOLATION
A hand-shaped wooden bass-reflex port promotes smooth, laminar airflow for accurate low frequencies. The Krion® cabinets sit on IsoAcoustics isolators, decoupling the speaker from the floor to sharpen imaging and bass definition. Altogether, it’s engineering plus craft aimed at one goal: natural, distortion-free sound.
