This is the baffle of Marten Coltrane Quintet in solid walnut. Each piece of wood is selected for quality and consistency, making sure the grain looks good. The pieces are cut and glued together before being CNC processed. Multiple layers of lacquer are applied to give a deep, satin finish, bringing out the best in the wood. This is then sandwiched with aluminium to increase integrity, reducing resonance. Due to the many stages in this process, plus curing and drying times, the baffle takes up to 3 months to complete.
