The Lost Recordings writes: “We are very proud to present the first ever complete release of this extraordinary piece of music history featuring Miles Davis (trumpet), Sonny Stitt (saxophone), Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul Chambers (bass) and Jimmy Cobb (drums).

The return of the prodigal son
It was 11 October, 1960, and Miles Davis was back in Paris for his fourth – and perhaps his most significant – visit. Miles Davis was back in the city he loved so much, on the stage of the legendary Olympia concert hall. The trumpeter had found his bearings again and was playing music completely concordant with his inspirations of the time.

Paris and Miles, Miles and Paris: a love story he summed up thus:
“This was my first trip out of the country, and it changed the way I looked at things forever. I loved being in Paris and loved the way it was treated… I have never felt like that in my life since.”

The First Complete Live Concert
Almost two years ago, we discovered a previously unreleased analogue tape of the Miles Davis Quintet. It occurred to be the missing part of their legendary concert on October 11th 1960 at the Paris Olympia Concert Hall.
After nearly two years of search in the South of France, the USA and Sweden, we accomplished to gather all the other tapes that we meticulously restored as well.
