Antony Michaelson’s idea of music is big-scale, warm, and mighty with details in colours. His amplifier designs are a rare expression of these sound characteristics.
In 2002 Antony asked me to help design a turntable that should have all these attributes and look mechanically stunning, as all his amps do!
The M1 was born and was a great success.
The base idea was to combine the inert mass of metal alloys with zero resonating acrylics.
Decouple the motor unit from The tonearm/ platter assembly via a dual chassis construction.
The new M8x TT is now the follow-up of the original design with even more expressive technical features:
- Bigger, heavier platter with an aluminium insert to improve the flywheel effect
- Use of TPE damping materials
- Better main bearing block
- Higher mass adjustable feet
- Massive exchangeable tonearm board for flexible choice of high-end tonearms
- Generally higher weight, providing a proper mass-loaded turntable design
- Newly designed ultra-low resonance tonearm
- Improved finish by hand-polished diamond-cut CNC work
- Improved connectivity allows you to wire up the M8x TT in “True Balanced” mode
The result is a high-end turntable with an ultra-quiet and stable sound image and outstanding build quality and looks.
Side note: The TT comes with the MF M tonearm or can be purchased without the tonearm; different tonearm-base can be supplied on request.
The M8xTT is available for an MSRP of 8.990€ (incl. VAT). Available at Musical Fidelity dealers from September 2023.
