Drexel University is testing two-dimensional materials known for their interference blocking capabilities. The newly discovered MXenes titanium carbon nitride has a unique electromagnetic behavior that does not deflect the electromagnetic interference but absorbs it. This new material promises even less weight and less thickness than copper. Such shielding can be quite effective in EMI shielding.
By studying this material, the Drexel University team aspires to better understand and predict the hidden capabilities of other materials.
