The elegant appearance, defined by an anodized aluminum baffle, is immediately striking. It focuses attention and reveals only the most important acoustic features. Mechanical elements such as bolts are hidden, with the baffle and high-gloss cabinet blending to form a seamless entity. The baffle cover is held in place by magnets.
At the center of acoustic attention is a 5-inch coaxial drive unit incorporating a 1-inch silk dome tweeter. The membrane of this low/midrange unit is made of black anodized aluminum. The concentric configuration ensures outstanding audio reproduction, which remains consistent throughout the listening space, with a captivating soundstage and stunning realism.
The exceptional low-frequency performance is achieved by a special concept whereby up to three woofers are fitted in a separate bass-reflex cabinet inside the loudspeaker. The externally visible passive radiator is driven by the membrane surface of the woofers and the bass-reflex port. This layout offers the advantage of an impressively extended bass presentation that is unexpected from a loudspeaker of this size. It is also achieved free of interfering noise (for example, due to the air flow noise of conventional bass-reflex systems) at all volume levels. The passive radiator’s added effect as an acoustic high-pass filter enabled an extremely efficient crossover design that maximizes transparency.
