Graham Audio are launching a recreation of the BBC LS5/5 loudspeaker. Derek Hughes has assimilated all technical information available on this classic three-way speaker and, in collaboration with Graham Audio, they’ve have rebuilt a BBC classic. This is the first time this model has been produced for 40 years.
The slotted openings improve the off-axis response – a trick the BBC used in a lot for their older designs. It works surprisingly well. But they do come with grilles. Due to the dispersion of the speaker, it can be used for near-field, but it works equally well as a larger field monitor too.
