British manufacturer Ophidian is proud to present our new flagship loudspeaker “Voodoo”. Voodoo is a 1.3m tall 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker featuring our unique Aeroflex bass loading system. The dual 265mm (10″) drivers feature thick black anodised aluminium cones, dual voice coils and triple shorting rings to reduce distortion to an absolute minimum. They are capable of cleanly displacing over an inch of movement and produce solid bass extension down to 26hz.
The 180mm (7″) mid-bass drivers also feature black anodised aluminium cones with solid aluminium phase plugs. Most critical to the performance of the midband however is due to the fact the mid-bass driver is loaded within its own damped sub-enclosure. By isolating the mid-bass driver in this way the external walls of the cabinet no longer colour the sound.
A 22mm fabric soft dome tweeter with a Sonomex dome features a large magnet for excellent transient response. The large roll surround allows high power handling and a smooth response extending beyond 20khz.
Voodoo sits on a plinth which is CNC machined from a solid block of aluminium and weighs 11kg alone.
As with all our loudspeakers the crossover exclusively uses high quality parts from Mundorf while the binding posts are from industry leaders WBT.
Voodoo will retail for £14,000 inc. VAT in the UK in a Walnut finish. Custom high quality polyester paint finishes will be available for an extra charge in any colour the customer desires.
