Thomas speaks openly and crucially how in with high-end audio tube amplifiers the sound outcome of the amps is too attributed to the dedicated and choose tube. Thomas think how this is simply wrong and that output tube contributes to 10-15% of the overall sound of an amplifier and how nothing really can be said for sure about the sound of an amplifer if only the tube is known.
After Thomas foray into the amplifier builds with expensive triodes and multiple chassis he returns to a single chassis stereo power amplifier based on the 6CB5A tube.
This new version is a single chassis stereo, interstage transformer coupled with Lundahl transformers. Kind of a mid specced and more affordable. Thomas consider such an amplifier as a smart choice when the budget is limited.
