The new Pass Labs design now incorporates double-shielded, low-noise toroidal transformers in an external supply, linked via aviation-grade circular connectors plated with silver over oxygen-free copper. The power supply is laid out in a dual-mono configuration with two transformers, minimizing radiated and mechanical noise. Because noise is a major contributor to THD+N at lower levels, cutting it down improves resolution and dynamic range.
Our gain circuitry still relies on the identical trusted Toshiba transistors, but it now features a more extensive, higher-biased output stage—similar to the Xs Preamp—and includes auto bias. This expanded output stage makes driving longer and multiple cables run more effortless, allowing us to simplify the single-ended output while enhancing performance.
We’ve moved to a single-stage volume control—rather than two—that offers a broader range, runs quieter, and is more precise. It’s the same control used in the XP-30, contributing to a more peaceful, neutral, musical, and adaptable hub for your system.
While the XP-22 measures exceptionally well, how it sounds really sets it apart.
