PS AUDIO PMG SIGNATURE SERIES M800 AND M400 MONO POWER AMPLIFIERS

PS Audio announces the introduction of its PMG Signature Series M800 and M400 mono power amplifiers, two all-new designs that embody more than 50 years of PS Audio engineering expertise and are created entirely without compromise to offer extraordinary sound.

The M800 (800 watts into 4 ohms) and M400 ($00 watts into 4 ohms) are designed by Darren Myers and engineered by PS Audio’s Bob Stadherr.

Key to the new amplifiers’ performance is the fact that they operate in Class A mode for much of their operation. Class A is the most linear amplifier topology, yet is typically expensive and inefficient. The M800 and M400 offer a remarkable 50 watts and 30 watts of pure Class A operation, respectively, which means that for most listening they remain entirely in Class A to deliver the ultimate in low-level resolution and musical accuracy. It’s a purity of sound that reproduces every sonic nuance. With 800 and 400 watts respectively of total available power, the M800 and M400 can drive any loudspeaker with ease.

Both amplifiers employ extremely low feedback and offer ultrawide bandwidth to beyond 500 kHz with a slew rate of 200 volts per microsecond, ensuring exceptionally fast transient response and vanishingly low distortion across the entire frequency range. Both feature an active power supply, which allows for cleaner power, ultra-fast transient response and greater current on demand than conventional transformer-based designs.

The measured performance of these amplifiers is among the best achieved by PS Audio – or anyone. A 10 kHz square wave is reproduced with no overshoot or ringing. The sound quality reaches an extraordinary new level of power and refinement, with effortless reproduction of the most demanding as well as the most subtle musical passages from the amplifiers’ unequalled bass power to the richly textured midrange and pure, open high frequencies. The amplifiers simply stand aside and let the music flow in all its dynamic contrast, body, and spatial realism.

The PMG Signature Series M800 and M400 provide balanced and single-ended inputs, two sets of speaker outputs to enable bi-wiring, and a subwoofer output. They include a trigger input for use with custom-installation audio and home theater systems.

The PS Audio PMG Signature Series M800 and M400 mono power amplifiers are currently available in black or silver finish at US retail prices of $29,998 per pair and $17,998 per pair.
