QUALIO AUDIO IQ 30 SPEAKERS REVIEW

The Polish manufacturer has a recurring presence on Mono & Stereo, with several reviews featuring both sister brands, Cube Audio and Qualio.

In the latest installment, Qualio Audio returns with the largest speakers in its portfolio, the IQ-30.

IQ — 30

Qualio IQ 30 is one of those rare loudspeakers that quietly resets expectations.

At its core is a midrange of prime pedigree. A 7.5-inch SB Acoustics Satori Papyrus driver works alongside a dipole Mundorf AMT super-tweeter, extending effortlessly to 30 kHz. Both operate in an open-baffle arrangement, radiating front and rear, avoiding the usual box-induced signatures. The result is not just more pristine sound, but a presentation that is expansive, layered, and convincingly three-dimensional, with a soundstage that detaches from the speakers and settles naturally into the room.

The lower register foundation is equally secure, with a 12-inch SB Acoustics woofer reaching down to 27 Hz with authority, delivering bass that is articulate, controlled, and properly weighted. There is no artificial emphasis – just scale and grip – making the IQ 30 entirely at ease in medium to larger spaces where it can fully unfold.

Voicing leans toward neutrality, but never at the expense of musicality. The crossover execution is precise, allowing the drivers to integrate seamlessly without drawing attention to themselves. Music flows with an unforced sense of fluidity.

Still, Qualio acknowledges that no two rooms or systems behave the same, hence the additional set of WBT terminals on the rear panel dedicated to the Mundorf AMT section.

A set of Mundorf copper-nickel resistors, each clearly color-coded and pre-mounted on gold-plated copper banana plugs, allows swapping them in seconds, with the sonic shift far from trivial, allowing subtle yet meaningful adjustment of the treble balance, enabling the upper register to align with the listening room, associated equipment, and listening preferences, shaping the final contour.

THE MUSIC

As always, here are a few music selections and references that highlight the unique qualities of the Qualio IQ-30 speakers in more detail.

Keith Jarrett, Paul Motian, Gary Peacock — At The Deer Head Inn

The Deer Head Inn is a highly familiar live recording and serves as a reference for quickly assessing system’s balance and, even more importantly, how loudspeakers perform in situ.

Regardless of size, with any speaker, the biggest challenge is always finding that equilibrium and energy momentum that can convey the large body of the piano, along with the flux of overtones, the sharp attacks reflecting the hammers striking the metallic strings, and, most importantly, the harmonic wholeness of a full concert grand. The same applies to the double bass and drums.

With this record, everything easily fell into place in favor of the IQ-30s. Along with the human voice, the piano presents a foundational challenge for any high-end audio reproduction system, especially for the final link in the chain – the speakers.

A similar challenge exists for a believable reproduction of a drum kit and double bass. It is easy to push the sonic sum to either extreme, exaggerating size, dynamics, or overall scale to the point of contortion.

The Polish floorstanders’ rendition of At The Deer Head Inn ” kept everything within the bounds of accuracy and believability, with a clear presence and the necessary weight to the piano’s strikes, while creating an indispensable three-dimensional holographic scale for the trio of instruments, without losing the contrast between feather-light notes and thunderous, hard-hitting attacks, or the ever- evolving, swinging narrative.

Joel Xavier & Ron Carter — In New York

In New York, the recording showcases the best of the system when the electronics and speakers can convey the intimacy, interplay, and sheer intoxication of masterful double bass and guitar performances.

There are many critical and reference aspects to this recording, but most importantly, it serves as a viable test to detect how the loudspeakers respond to the weight of the instruments and their recreation in the acoustic sphere.

Do they provide enough focal points and acoustic nodes to replicate the level of sonic realism so that the speakers disappear and listener engagement reaches the necessary threshold?

The IQ-30 has once again proven to be central to the authentic reproduction of music, delivering the “In New York” skit with a clear and present sense of an above-average “being there” factor.

Qualio flagships convey the true size and presence/factuality of the instruments while providing above-average horizontal and vertical space without hindering the natural fluctuation of the notes.

IQ-30s are not just another aural trope, but loudspeakers with deliberate, controlled, and musical impact – attributes worthy of highlighting.

O-Zone Percussion Group: Bamba (La)

With “Minuano” by O-Zone Percussion Group: Bamba (La), I could immediately acknowledge the IQ-30’s given propensities. The sense of musical momentum, the clarity, and the solidity of the instruments, each occupying its designated place in the sonic sphere, allowed the music to sync subconsciously. The rhythm, tempo, timing, and mysterious narrative of “Minuano” silently capture the listener’s attention without being distracted by the usual audiophile triggers of particular details or pushing one into an analytical mode of scouring for what is not there.

The IQ-30 delivers what most loudspeaker designers strive for: magic in situ – a moment of instant propagation of sonic and musical information that reaches the listener without triggering unwanted sensory alarms or fatigue. It skillfully bypasses logical defenses and engages the emotional part of the brain, providing the necessary leverage to balance the still-needed but not dominant analytical scanning of the logical brain centers that determine phase, timing, and decipher the vast layers of acoustical data.

With Minuano, it is always rewarding to observe all the articulations, subtle details, harmonic structure, and notes layered across different playing styles. One can easily draw conclusions about the system’s musical and sonic capabilities. The IQ-30s from Qualio do not compromise, capturing the essence of the music with a familiar lock and engaging quality. As expected, they easily follow tempo, dynamic shifts, and note density, but they also provide a better sense of harmonic density, with a noticeable increase in focal points and melodic lines – a clear improvement.

THE CONCLUSION

With the IQ-30 floor-standing speaker, the successful story of the Polish boutique speaker manufacturer continues, following the same distinguished sonic path that made them stand out from the crowd. However, due to refinements, larger size, and careful selection of drivers, the Qualio flagships introduce something extra to the performance.

The engagement factor has always been one of the main positive attributes of this speaker manufacturer, and the IQ-30 loudspeakers build on this legacy in their quest to deliver powerful sonic and musical reproduction. With the largest speaker chassis so far, they remain relatively moderate in size and affordable in price compared to the general pricing structure in the high-end audio industry.

The IQs are the largest of the models across both Cube Audio and Qualio I have reviewed, and as expected, they deliver a more forward punch, better horizontal and vertical expansion, fill the room with a greater sense of musical energy, and firmer engagement factor.

IQ-30s were designed from the ground up as speakers that fit most listening environments, not just strictly acoustically treated and dedicated listening rooms. However, due to their larger size, they are intended to serve music in rooms of 30 m² or more.

For Qualio, simplicity and minimalism are not just trends but the result of ongoing exploration of materials, drivers, and speaker concepts, as well as how to strip away anything unnecessary. The Qualio Audio IQ-30 speakers fully embody this concept.

The main advantage and unique selling point of these largest Qualio Audio speakers is their immediacy. Experienced listeners will immediately recognize their impact on system playback. The combination of the instruments’ natural speed and weight, along with the ability to let the music expand freely in both horizontal and vertical planes without losing the presence and objectivity of the instruments or performance, sets them apart. These qualities alone distinguishe them and add value compared to other available options.

There are no simple tricks to making speakers sound this good, and this reflects the basic philosophy of proper voicing, careful selection of drivers, and, importantly, finding the matching enclosure type that suits everything harmonically. On top of it, the IQ 30 flexible tuning with an enclosed resistor insert expands its adaptability to various types of listening rooms.

The IQ 30 speakers are the embodiment of a clear sonic philosophy of the Polish speaker manufacturer: bringing the music first, along with an impressive disappearing act. Everything comes together and falls into harmonic space, allowing you to forget about the enclosure, drivers, crossovers, and so on.

The IQ top-tier speakers are exactly this and more – they tick all the right

boxes musically, embrace modern minimalism and aesthetics, maintain refined styling, allow easy placement in a variety of living environments, and most importantly, deliver top-to-bottom musical performance that is reinvigorated and meaningful.

The IQ 30 avoids typical labeling and sets its own standard for output. For what they represent in value and sound, I am happy to award them the Mono and Stereo 2026 Highly Recommended Product Award. •
