Something from the the others side of music reproduction – Dj-ing. Still interesting video. A Shure M44-7 needle is dropped onto a record filmed at 500 frames per second with a Photron SA x2 camera. Taken from Macho Zapp’s immersive multimedia feature ‘Needle Habit’ http://machozapp.com/features/needle-… Notice how quickly the stylus finds the groove despite the violent motion. This is due to the M44-7’s renowned suspension system which was first used in jukeboxes in the 1960s.
The needle celebrates its 50th anniversary this year (2014) and still remains the choice needle among top DJs and nightclubs despite having never changed the design.
