The latest update and info about the tonearm production, recently announced by SME CEO, Stuart McNeilis. “It may come as a bit of a surprise to some, but we have decided to discontinue the production of tonearms both for retail & OEM with immediate effect to allow us to shift our focus on our core turntable and tonearm combination business. This decision has been taken after much consideration, especially as we have played a key role in the design and development of the world’s best tonearms since 1959. However, the continued growth of our turntable business – including the highly successful launch of Synergy and the Model 12A variants – has meant that we can no longer continue both streams. This will also allow us to focus on the development of new turntables, details of which will be released soon.”
“There is no change to our current range of turntables and Models 15, 20 and 30 are available with or without tonearms. Factory service and spare parts support for tonearm owners will continue and all warranty obligations will be honoured.”
