WHEN PROJECTING HIGH END LOUDSPEAKERS IS A MATTER OF SCIENCE: THE TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS THAT MAKE SONUS FABER UNIQUE
Beside innovations on reducing spurious vibrations and the optimization of the electro-acoustic project, engineering researches were about:
Z.V.T. Zero Vibration Transmission
The suspension system inhibits the mechanical transmission of vibrations to the environment and consequently eliminates inducing spurious resonances and acoustic feedback.
The “Stealth Reflex”
The innovative para-aperiodic tuning system has, beside the usual advantages of reduced dimensions/extended lower range/reduced distortions, has the prerogative of eliminating spurious noises that are typical of a traditional reflex system.
The direct/indirect radiation balance has been addressed innovatively. Two totally independent loudspeaker systems create the optimum ratio between the direct and reverberant field.
In addiction:
The “Polar Clamshells”, the “Anima Legata” and the T.M.D.
The two lyre-shaped elements (upper and lower) machined from solid Avional blocks have been designed to collect vibrations. The clamshells are connected by compression through the “Anima Legata”, an amagnetic steel alloy shaft and are optimized one by one in traction with a dynamometric device. The “Anima Legata” in the critical nodal point is implemented with a T.M.D. (Tuned Mass Damper); a device that eliminates any residual vibration. The system works through anti-phase oscillation, using kinetic-thermal conversion.
After the flagship, other Sonus faber home high end loudspeakers inherited and interpreted the Sonus faber’s experience.
Amati futura and Guarneri evolution feature the Stealth Reflex and the Tuned Mass Damper. Moreover, Guarneri evolution reinterprets the “Anima Legata” optimizing it in its Evolution Stand.
With Aida the Z.V.T. has been further improved with the “Bow Spring” system: a device that resembles a crossbow and eliminates acoustic feedback and other noises, allowing the infra-woofer to function freely in a “ground-effect”.
Eventually, with Lilium the innovative electro-acoustic project inside the new “Lyra shape” design allowed a double Tuned Mass Damper, with a different tuning and the optimization for eliminating micro-vibrations.
