At a length of 9 feet and a weight of nearly 1,000 pounds, the Steinway Model D is second to none. The rim alone is made up of 17 layers of hard rock maple, bent to form the legendary “piano-shape” perimeter. Each and every part, 12,000 overall, is handcrafted by 300 craftspeople over the course of a year.
