Tacet writes: “Matthias Lingenfelder has always had a special affinity for French music due to his studies in Paris with Gérard Poulet, the son of Gaston, for whom Debussy wrote his violin sonata. Since 1995 at the latest, after the Auryn Quartet and Peter Orth had recorded the piano quintets of Gabriel Fauré, Primarius Matthias Lingenfelder and Peter dreamed of recording his works for violin and piano.
Many years passed, years full of other experiences. In 2022, the Auryn Quartet ended its concert activities and with it the long-standing exclusive contract between Auryn and TACET came to an end. Before that, I wanted one last recording with them for the label, as a farewell, no matter what. That didn’t materialise. But Matthias still had the desire and energy. And so did Peter! So what could be more obvious than finally realising their long-cherished wish? The result is a serene, mature, confident, virtuoso, sensitive and loving performance of this unconventionally beautiful repertoire.
