Thales Centrifugal Governor

The Thales centrifugal governor, patented in 2024, enables the drive and control forces to get in constant balance. This results in unprecedented precise timing in analogue music playback.

Centrifugal governor

Every modern speed controller is based on electronic feedback circuit: the rotation speed is continuously registered, and any deviations must be successive corrected. The Thales centrifugal governor, patented in 2024, enables the drive and control forces to get in constant balance. This results in unprecedented precise timing in analogue music playback.

Innovative drive

For the current turntable models, Thales relies on traditional DC motors with precious metal brushes, built by Faulhaber. In combination with an analogue, high-precision current limiter, any high-frequency field is completely eliminated. With an eddy current brake that places a targeted and constant load on the drive, harmonious speed constancy is ensured in a such narrow tolerance field, that was previously unachievable even with the most modern digital technology.

Internal battery power supply

All Thales turntables feature an internal battery power supply. They run for many hours disconnected from the mains and its high frequency interferences.
